The setup
Chidi and Ada Okafor replaced their 15-year-old gas boiler with a Daikin heat pump in autumn 2025, and added a 9.5 kWh GivEnergy battery a month later. On a standard tariff, their first bill was higher than before.
Within a week of connecting Kova, the heat pump was pre-heating the house overnight at 7p/kWh, and the battery was carrying the whole home through the 4-7pm peak.
“We didn’t change a single habit. The house is warmer, the bill is a third of what it was, and I haven’t opened the app in weeks.” - Ada Okafor
What made the difference
Kova moved 58% of their usage out of peak hours, switched them to a heat-pump tariff, and enrolled them in grid flexibility events that paid £96 over the winter.
