Senior Backend Engineer, Optimisation
The role
You’ll own the planner that decides, every 30 minutes, what 40,000 homes do next. It’s a real-time optimisation problem with prices, weather and people in the loop - and it directly cuts bills and carbon.
What you’ll do
Design and scale the scheduling engine (Python, Rust, Postgres)
Model batteries, heat pumps and EVs with the energy team
Ship weekly, measure everything, keep it calm in production
About you
6+ years building backend systems in production
Comfortable with optimisation, forecasting or control problems
You care about clear code and clearer writing
